Overview
Ecolytics is a next-generation environmental analytics platform that helps organizations turn complex environmental data into clear, actionable insights. With tools that monitor metrics like carbon emissions, water usage, and biodiversity impact in real time, Ecolytics empowers businesses to drive sustainability initiatives, meet regulatory demands, and make data-informed decisions that create meaningful environmental change.
The Challenge
Ecolytics had already launched a visually polished product with a wide range of sustainability features. However, the original development left behind significant technical debt—especially within the data structure and survey system. When we stepped in, the challenge was twofold: (1) quickly understand an unfamiliar and partially broken backend system that was already in use by paying customers, and (2) stabilize and expand the platform without disrupting the live environment.
Our Solution
We approached the Ecolytics rebuild with a strong focus on stability, usability, and long-term flexibility. - Database Overhaul & Tech Recovery: After performing a deep audit of the existing data structure and workflows, we corrected schema issues and resolved logic flaws that were causing bugs in core functionality—especially in the survey feature. - Dynamic Survey System: We designed and implemented a fully dynamic survey builder, allowing users to create and manage custom sustainability surveys similar to Google Forms. This included support for importing existing questions, building from templates, inviting stakeholders (like employees and suppliers), and analyzing data in a shareable, visual format. - Shopify Integration: To help ecommerce companies quantify their environmental impact, we integrated Ecolytics with Shopify. This connection allows users to share relevant business data with the platform, which is then processed through Ecolytics' proprietary tracking algorithms to produce actionable insights and identify areas for improvement.

The Results
With the newly implemented features and a restructured backend, Ecolytics now operates as a more powerful, stable, and user-friendly platform. The survey tool has become a key driver of stakeholder engagement, and the Shopify integration significantly enhances data quality for retail-based clients. By addressing inherited tech debt and layering in dynamic new functionality, Ecolytics is better positioned to help its users lead the way in corporate sustainability.
