The Challenge
Glasshouse set out to disrupt the traditional real estate model by introducing speed and certainty into a market often plagued by delays and opacity. However, building a platform capable of supporting real-time bidding, timezone-specific notifications, and race-condition logic presented significant technical challenges. Bubble’s workflow timing required meticulous control to prevent conflicts during high-speed bidding, and the user experience had to remain seamless across different timezones—especially as offer windows opened and closed.
Our Solution
We partnered with the Glasshouse team to develop a robust technical foundation that could support the platform’s fast-paced, high-stakes functionality. - Race Condition Management: We implemented a system that fairly processes simultaneous bids down to the millisecond—ensuring no user is unfairly edged out due to platform delay. This was critical in making Glasshouse’s promise of transparency and fairness a reality. - Real-Time Bidding System: A core feature of the platform is its live bidding environment. We built a custom system that tracks all offers in real time, supports the Buy-It-Now feature, and allows users to view competing bids as they happen—all within a highly responsive interface. - Timezone-Aware Notifications: Coordinating offers and bids across multiple time zones added a layer of complexity. We used plugins and SendGrid customization to ensure that all users received the right alerts at the right time, wherever they were located. - Workflow Precision: To handle simultaneous actions like bid placement, confirmation, and lockouts, we carefully sequenced Bubble workflows to maintain accuracy and avoid race conditions—even during high-traffic moments.
